Course title - Sensology - a functional multisensory education

Aim of the course:
An introduction to delegates of the importance of the sensory systems and multisensory environments laying strong foundations for sensing, thinking, learning and remembering throughout life.


Within the workshop sessions, delegates will learn about:
Sensology - who what where and when
The sensory/ thinking brain - linked to neurological research
The seven sensory systems
Multisensory assessment - informal and formal assessments of the senses and multisensory environments
The ‘Sensology Workout’ - waking up the senses to learn each day
Formal learning through the senses
Interpreting and planning for learning in multisensory environments - big and small


Audience: This Workshop is intended for advisors, teachers, multisensory coordinators, learning support assistants, therapists, all-inclusive settings and special school/college staff

During the course delegates will experience or browse through:
A wide variety of high and low tech materials and equipment
Commercial resources of particular multisensory interest
A library of the latest books in multisensory learning, multisensory environments and special needs
Videos of learners at work and play in multisensory settings
….and engage with the speakers on their own particular needs and requirements


At the end of the workshop delegates will take home a DVD of:
All the course notes
Power points of presentations
Formal and informal multisensory assessments
Information on where to obtain further resources

Costs - The cost for each one day lecture will be £185 and two days at £365 sterling plus VAT at 17.5%

Who should attend - The course will be appropriate to all practitioners working in special and mainstream inclusive or specialist educational setting from pre - 5's to young adults.
