'Introducing Sensory Integration into classroom settings'

Jane Reeve
paediatric occupational therapist, trainer in Sensory Integration- with a particular interest in working with those on the autistic spectrum and Flo Longhorn, trainer and author of the innovative book ‘Sensology Workout’ which looks at awaking the sensory systems for special learners.

This workshop introduces delegates to sensory integration and how it can be successfully used within a classroom setting.

The practical workshop includes:
A dip into the brain and sensory systems
An over view of sensory integration
Sensory processing and self regulation
Practical ideas to promote readiness for learning
Sensory integration and challenging behaviours
Sensory diets for special needs

During the day delegates will have an opportunity to experience their own sensory systems in action and discuss particular children’s needs within the group.

Audience
Everyone working with children, students or young adults who have multi sensory needs or unusual or challenging behaviours. This workshop will also be of particular interest to educators and therapists working with children with significant autism.
